Just moved from Deland to Winter Park FL. The Canadian double that I've
been training with moved there training camp to Oak Ridge Tennessee and I
am now with a US lightweight double who share similar hopes for Beijing.
We are training were the Winter Park high school train on Lake Howel.
The facilities here are nice and the Lake is equip with a 1500 meter
buoyed course. Training is going well and I feel like my strength and boat
speed are improving from week to week. We did a 2000 meter time trial on
the water the other day which I posted a time of 6:58. If my speed coach
is calibrated correctly I should be in solid form coming into the first
selection regatta the second weekend of April.

Jan 08-
As the note into my public diary I just wanted to mention a couple of things to my friends around the country, to say Thank you for helping me get to where I am and to help as I continue training this winter, spring and summer.  I really appreciate the people who I have met and who have given me help as I keep my sights on the goal ahead.

The process of becoming a sculler started a long time ago, well before I started rowing with my Dad being a coach for national and Olympic teams it is hard not to think about it.  I enjoyed a lot of sports in high school and got pretty good at running cross country but after I graduated from High School I got to big and turned to the boat.

The past couple of years have been great and I have been to Europe racing and getting to line up with Tufte was incredible.  I will certainly never forget that race.  Now I have more experience and more training and hopefully better results to come.

2008 started with me training at GMS in Connecticut and then heading out to Colorado Springs with the US Training Center athletes and coaches, hiking in the mountains, cross-country skiing, erging, lifting and eating pretty much took care of most of the day.  I left altitude and went straight to Deland Florida to get back to water training in my 1x and had a great time working the long rows and doing a little coaching at my Dad's camp.  Good people, good times, and good rowing.

Mid January I was able to meet some of the athletes in the Canadian system and am now training with the carded Lightweight Women's 2x which is incredible.  Fast boat that helps me go fast.  good time when we are off the water too, friends to talk to about life and take a few minutes a day off rowing is fun.  Check out the photos of our 'motorized' tour up to blue springs on the photo page.

More Later- Peace
